Coughing, sneezing, itchy and watery eyes means it's allergy season again.

The extreme temperature swings we've been experiencing lately can have negative effects on your body.

If you've noticed your allergies are worse this time around, it's because mother nature is having mood swings.

Dr. Tonia Farmer, local ear nose and throat surgeon, suggests using supplements like tumeric or getting allergy shots, to aid in the fight against respiratory attacks.

"Flush with a saline solution on a daily basis, particularly if this is your spring allergy season," Dr. Farmer said. "It's like our bodies, don't quite know what to do. Our bodies are so used to trying to adjust to the seasons," she said.

Dr. Farmer tells 21 News, allergies range, and they don't all come in the form of the most common symptoms.

The inconsistent weather effects people with asthma and sinus conditions as well.

"People who have, say, dark discoloration and swelling under their eyes, we call those allergic shiners," said Dr. Farmer. "It's because of congested blood vessels underneath the skin and that can come from allergies," she said.

If your allergies are too severe, Dr. Farmer tells 21 News it would be wise to go see a specialist or try out new medications on the market.
