From possibly integrating green infrastructure to city technologies, Poland Village has a strategic plan to improve their community.

Though the plan is only a start-up point, the village has already secured money for a forest connector trail project, Manor bridge replacement and they've hired a zoning enforcement officer.

Their latest development in the plan is figuring out what to do with the old Union Elementary school building.

"The community pillar, the playground, the baseball field in the back, it's something we want to keep, from the historic value alone," said Poland Village Mayor Tim Sicafuse.

The possibilities for what this building could be, range from community centers to condominiums and anything that would be useful for the residents.

"I've heard from many older people that as they, you know, want to get out of their house, they've grown up with their kids, they have no where to go," said Mayor Sicafuse. "So, this could be a good place for some senior living," he said.

However, nothing's set in stone, just yet. On April 4th, Poland Village and local schools officials will have another meeting to discuss the future of the Union Elementary building.

They're also currently taking suggestions and ideas from potential developers who may be interested in buying the building.
