Jamestown woman accused of trying to force car carrying kids off the road
A Mercer County woman faces DUI and other charges after police say she repeatedly tried to force a moving car off the road as it was carrying three children.
According to State Police, 29-year-old Brandi Smith of Jamestown was a passenger in Nissan Altima along with a female infant, as well as two boys, ages three and four.
As the car was traveling along 533 Franklin Street in Sandy Lake on Saturday, police say she grabbed the steering wheel and tried to turn it three times during an argument with the 29-year-old male driver.
The report says Smith also struck the driver, breaking his nose.
Smith was arraigned on charges of assault, harassment, endangering children, and driving under the influence.
According to court records, Smith’s blood alcohol content was .16% or greater.
Smith is free on a $5,000 bond awaiting another court hearing scheduled for April 13.
