Even though gas prices are down eight cents compared to last week, costs are still burning a hole in Ohioan's wallets.

A gallon of gas cost a whopping average of $4.056 in Youngstown on Wednesday, according to AAA. That's slightly above the median cost of $4.053 in Northeast Ohio.

But the pain at the pump could soon falter, experts say. According to new data from the Energy Information Administration, there is an active drop in gas demand worldwide. That plus growth in total oil stocks contributed to price decreases, the agency said.

The EIA believes that if demand continues to decline as gasoline stocks continue to build, the national average will likely continue to move lower.

The national average for gas in America is currently $4.18, down six cents from a week ago but 35 cents more than a month ago.
