Ohio's First Lady, Fran DeWine made multiple stops in the Mahoning Valley throughout the day on Thursday.

Mrs. DeWine was the guest keynote speaker at the United Way of Youngstown and the Mahoning Valley event at the Lake Club in Poland Thursday evening. 

United Way Director of Marketing, Roxann Sebest tells 21 News that this event was to honor those who went above and beyond during the COVID-19 pandemic.

"[In] the last two years, we've been working a lot on COVID-related issues and really everyone here has stepped up in big ways. We've managed to raise the most money in 2021 than we ever did in our 102-year history," Sebest said.

In addition, Mrs. DeWine made a stop at the Second Harvest Food Bank in Youngtown earlier in the day. 

During her visit, the Warren City School District and the food bank showcased its partnership, which has a food bank located in each of the city's five schools addressing childhood hunger.
