The City of Youngstown has filed a new motion in its legal battle with the Chill Can plant developer.

The new motion requests for the developer behind the Chill Can plant, the Mitchell Joseph Company, to show why they shouldn't be held for contempt of court after missing an April 1st deadline to provide the city with requested documents.

The city filed the motion to show cause and also a "renewed motion for sanctions", saying the Joseph Company has displayed a "blatant failure to comply" with the discovery obligations and orders of the court.

The city is also asking for an extension of its own discovery deadline, saying that since the Joseph Company hasn't given them what they need, they cannot conduct depositions and gather the information they need.

Chill Can's plan for a plant in Youngstown began way back in 2016 when they held a groundbreaking on the city's east side.
