Sebring Village passes roads levy

SEBRING, Ohio - In Sebring, where a 1.5 mill roads levy has passed with 55% of the vote.
The money generated from the levy would exclusively be used for paving projects throughout Sebring.
The levy will generate about $80,000 per year for five years.
The prices of materials for road paving have been fluctuating in recent months and a mile of road paving could cost between $120,000 and $150,000 per mile says Sebring City Manager, Jack Haney.
The money generated by the levy alone is enough to pave about half a mile of road each year.
Haney said, "While that might not seem like a lot it will really save in the long run. when it comes to road and people's vehicle maintenance."
This is the first time Sebring is asking residents to vote for a roads levy.
Haney wanted to make clear that the money is to be used only for the roads and that none of it will go toward administrative costs.
"Residents will be able to see up close what they voted for,' said Haney.
According to Haney, roads will be addressed based on their severity and could include projects on Michigan Avenue, 21st Street, Georgia Avenue, 14th Street, and 18th Street.
The levy will raise on the average $100,000 home about $52 more in taxes each year.
