Exterior lighting shows beauty of Stambaugh Auditorium

As Stambaugh Auditorium nears it's 100th anniversary, a major restoration project is almost complete.
"It's a $4.1 million investment to the historic North side of Youngstown," Stambaugh Auditorium Chief Development Officer JoAnn Stock said.
Ground was broken on the project back in June of 2021 to replace the staircase and promenade on the exterior of building.
"One of the main components of the project was exterior LED lighting all around the building, all different colors," Stock said.
Wednesday, the lights were on display for a few dozen who gathered to see the progress and how the lighting enhances the beauty of the facility.
"The building on its own is magnificent, but with the lighting, it just highlights the architectural details of the building plus when you drive up Market St. or on 680 around the city of Youngstown, it will stand out as the magnificent historical landmark that it is," Stock said.
The lights are also programmable and customizable.
"We can highlight different months that have different colors," Stock said. "If there is a bridal party that is having an event here or a special event that they would like different colors, but it will be lit every evening year round."
Stock says the entire restoration project should be complete by mid-June.
