Valley fire departments donate 40+ breathing devices to Ukraine Fire Departments

Mahoning Valley - Multiple Valley fire departments including Austintown, Struthers and Lowellville donated over 40 of their out of service breathing devices to help Ukrainian fire departments.
Although these devices are still functional, U.S. guidelines state that they cannot be used after a 10-year service life. Austintown Fire Chief, Andy Frost tells 21 News that desperate times call for desperate measures.
"In desperate times like you have in the Ukraine to where their equipment has been destroyed or they're recruiting citizens to help, so they're very happy to get that equipment. Even though it's old and it's still very useful. [We just] can't use it in the states," Frost said.
It's all done through the Mission of Love, an organization of volunteers helping third-world countries. The equipment will be flying out of Cleveland this week.
