Warrant served and sends former Canfield doctor back to jail

A former Mercy Health doctor is back in the Mahoning County jail and is charged with Having Weapons While Under Disability, just eight days after being booked for Aggravated Menacing and one count of violating a protective order.
Dr. Ali Kooshkabadi, 39, was taken in on Wednesday morning, and specifics of his arrest are not yet clear. The Ohio revised code defines Having Weapons While Under Disability as "Unless relieved from disability under operation of law or legal process, no person shall knowingly acquire, have, carry, or use any firearm or dangerous ordnance, if any of the following apply."
A fugitive warrant for Dr. Kooshkabadi's arrest was filed and executed sometime Wednesday. He will face arraignment for his most recent charges on Friday at 9 a.m. in a Canfield courtroom.
Dr. Kooshkabadi's two previous charges stem from two April 2, 2022 incidents in Canfield and Boardman. A jury demand for those incidents was filed on Monday and he will undergo preliminary hearings on March 3.
Mercy Health released a statement saying, “As of Friday, April 1, Dr. Kooshkabadi is no longer employed by Mercy Health,” following his first arrest.
