UNION TWP, Pa. - A Union Township sidewalk project is among 64 transportation alternative projects approved for funding by Pennsylvania Governor, Tom Wolf on Wednesday.

The project is a $270,000 project to install sidewalks and safety improvements on Bluff Street, Spring Street, Smithfield Street, Walter Street, Magee Street, West Division Street and Boroline Street.

"These projects will help make travel in these communities safer and healthier," Governor Wolf said.

Applications for projects were reviewed and selections were made based on safety benefits, reasonableness of cost, readiness for implementation, statewide or regional significance, integration of land use and transportation decision making, collaboration with stakeholders and leverage of other projects or funding.

This is the only Shenango Valley project among the 64 projects approved.
