Mercer County Humane Society is advising members of the community to pay extra attention to their pets as all shelters in Mercer County are beyond capacity.

The organization posted to their Facebook page to let people know that shelters will not be able to take in any strays until the Dog Warden returns Monday, and that strays could potentially be re-located to Erie.

The post reads:

Residents of Mercer County
Please keep an eye on your pets! All shelters in Mercer County are beyond capacity & will not be able to take in any strays at this time. This means you'll have to wait till Monday for the Dog Warden to advise pick up any strays! This also means your dog can end up at any shelter that does intakes for the warden...most likely Erie.
Please utilize social media if you've found a lost pet! Post them & if you can hold them please do so!
We do not have a facility yet so at this time we're of no assistance with strays.
