Warren PD Criminal Intelligence Unit given $200K to crack down on crime
The Warren Police Department got a major payday from Governor Mike DeWine on Monday, and will receive over $200,000 for crime reduction equipment.
Warren PD will get $218,344 for its Criminal Intelligence Unit to purchase new technology for use in areas with high rates of violent crime incidents including homicide, felonious assault, rape, human trafficking and drug trafficking.
The equipment is supposed to give CIU officers access to critical evidence that can be used to analyze crime patterns and help with intelligence-led policing strategies that could predict community threats, according to the governor's office.
Approximately $3.7 million in grants to local law enforcement agencies were awarded as part of the new Ohio Violent Crime Reduction Grant Program.
