BOARDMAN, Ohio - Due to a police presence in the area Tuesday afternoon, Boardman Schools were placed on a brief lockdown.

According to police dispatchers Center Intermediate, Glenwood Junior High and Stadium Drive Elementary schools were advised to lockdown as a precaution.

According to the district, students were not in danger.

Boardman Police chief, Todd Werth said his officers were assisting the Chippewa Pennsylvania Police Department serve a warrant at a residence on Oregon Trail.

One man was taken into custody.

According to police, anytime officers may be in the area of school buildings on a police-related matter the district is notified.

In this instance, the district went into a "locked-door" lockdown for the safety of the students, meaning the buildings are secured and students are not permitted outside until an "all clear" is given.
