USHL Clark Cup Playoffs: Season ends via sweep for the Phantoms

The Youngstown Phantoms run in the 2022 Clark Cup playoff has come to an end at the hands of the Madison Capitols as they fell by a final of 5-3 Tuesday night at the Covelli Centre.
The Phantoms were able to get on the board first in the first period after a slapshot by Garrett Wright. Then in the second period the Capitols got on the board after Jake Dunlap split the defense, and found the back of the net to tie the game at 1-1.
The third period is when the visitors from Wisconsin pulled away as Dunlap scored his second goal of the game off a faceoff to give Madison a 2-1 lead.
Then shortly after Jack Musa, who scored the go-ahead goal in game one, had a nice wrist shot to extend the road team's lead to 3-1.
With over three minutes left the Phantoms did try to mount a comeback with a goal by Adam Ingram to make it a 3-2 game. But Madison scored two empty net goals after as they won by a final of 5-3, completing the two game sweep of the Phantoms.
The Capitols will take on the number one seeded Chicago Steel in the Eastern Conference semi-finals of the Clark Cup Playoffs.
