The Animal Welfare League (AWL) of Trumbull County is treating a dog that was found abandoned behind the Liberty Township Walmart.

According to a post on the AWL's Facebook page, the dog, identified as Sunny, was picked up by the Trumbull County Dog Pound and was transported to the Mahoning Valley MedVet in Girard.

Pictures posted by the AWL show that Sunny is malnourished and AWL observed collar marks on her neck indicating that she did have an owner.

Sunny received fluids, antibiotics and pain medication and is currently resting comfortably according to AWL. She is scheduled for additional follow up testing and care on Saturday.

If you recognize Sunny, contact AWL at 330-539-5300 with any information you have on her. AWL also encourages anyone who is able to donate to do so to help Sunny.

You can donate via AWL's Facebook post about Sunny, through their website or by calling them at the number provided above.
