Mahoning Valley shows an outpouring of support for Lowellville Community
The Mahoning Valley is showing an outpouring of support for the Lowellville community after a self-inflicted shooting incident happened Thursday morning at Lowellville High School.
Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church in Lowellville announced on its Facebook page that it has opened the church for the community until 8:00 p.m. Thursday night for everyone and anyone who needs a quiet place.
A local landmark restaurant, Carchedi's Cafe, also wrote on social media: "The staff at Carchedi's Cafe is heartbroken to hear about the tragedy at Lowellville schools today. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the students, staff and all the residents of the Lowellville community as we heal together"
In Boardman, Trustee Brad Calhoun extended support from the Boardman community to the entire Lowellville community.

Calhoun was an educator for 33 years. He said his first thought went to the children he has taught over the years that have struggled.
"This could be anybody in any school in any community," said Calhoun. "You just think about all the kids and families that you have had, and I know I have had students that have struggled and they continue to struggle I am sure."
A nearby daycare, Sunshine and Lollipops Day Care and Learning Center also expressed sympathy for those impacted.
"We are very heartbroken to hear about the tragedy at Lowellville schools today. Please pray for the students and staff. We hope everyone is ok. Please pray for the child’s family. If anyone needs anything please let us know. You all are in our prayers and hearts today. a child, parent and teacher should never have to go through something like this. So very sad and heartbreaking."
Investigators say that the incident happened in the cafeteria during a lunch period. Only one person was confirmed to be hurt.
