Lowellville schools cancel prom, sporting events Friday after shooting

LOWELLVILLE, Ohio - The Lowellville School District has made the decision to cancel the school's prom following a self-inflicted shooting of a student.
Lowellville's promenade was set to take part Friday night at the high school before the dance at The Embassy.
All sporting events that were scheduled for Friday have also been canceled.
The decision to cancel events and close the school Friday comes after the self-inflicted gunshot by the student during a lunch period.
Students and families can talk with counselors at the school Friday from 8 a.m. to noon and 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.
Student drivers will be able to pick up their cars still at the school from 8 a.m. to noon and 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.
No other belongings will be released.
The district says prom and sporting events will be rescheduled.
