Judge releases New Castle woman who pepper-sprayed Kohl's security employee

BOARDMAN TWP., Ohio - A New Castle woman sent to prison for pepper-spraying a loss prevention officer at the Kohl's store in Boardman is being freed after serving half of her sentence.
Mahoning County Common Pleas Judge Anthony Donofrio granted a judicial release request made by 39-year-old Eugena Russo, who has been in the Ohio Reformatory for Women for the past year.
Russo was sentenced to two-to-three years in prison after pleading guilty to robbery.
According to Boardman Police, Russo sprayed mace into the face of a security employee who stopped her outside the Kohl's on April 25, 2019.
Russo fled from the Shops at Boardman Park.
With the help of security video, police say they identified Russo through her Facebook page using her piercings, and tattoos.
She was arrested five months later in Pittsburgh.
Although Russo has been released, she'll be under court supervision for three years.
