LOWELLVILLE, Ohio - The Lowellville School District has announced more changes to its schedule in the aftermath of the self-inflicted shooting of a student Thursday.

Friday's classes, sporting events and prom were canceled after the shooting incident.

Lowellville students will not return to the classroom until Tuesday, with Monday being another day with counselors available to students and parents from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sports and after-school activities will resume Monday, however.

Students will return to classes Tuesday with a staggered schedule. K-6 students will start at their regular time while 7-12 students will follow a two-hour delay schedule with the first period starting at 9:45 a.m.

Wednesday, Thursday and Friday will see all students return to normal school day hours.

Prom will take place on Friday, May 13, with the promenade being held at 6:15 p.m. at the Lowellville High School gym and Prom at the Embassy.

Counselors will be available all week for students, staff and parents. If parents feel the need to keep their child home, absences will be excused next week.

Anyone in need of support over the weekend can call the Help Network at 330-747-2696.
