POLAND, Ohio -

A local podcast has raised thousands of dollars for the Lowellville school district.

This past Sunday, the MLO Bros, hosted a special 'podcastathon' with a goal of making Lowellville's postponed prom extra special after a student shot himself in the school cafeteria on Thursday.

The podcasts hosts, Luke and Isaac Schuster, were successful. Their efforts raised $1,550 for the prom and nearly $2,000 for the district to use in supporting the 7th and 8th grade class.

"When it comes down to it Youngstown is one big family and we will support those dang kids from Lowellville. They are our family and we need to rally around them," said the MLO Bros during the podcast.

In addition to the money raised, Luke Schuster says a variety of businesses have pledged donations and activities to support students returning to school.

The majority of students will return to the classroom Wednesday. The rescheduled prom will take place on Friday.

Counselors will be available all week for students, staff, and parents.

The MLO Bros are still accepting donations that will go towards activities and events to help brighten the end of the year for the 7th and 8th grade class

Those interested in giving can donate money through Venmo, or checks can be dropped off at the brothers Mortgage Loan Office, 33 Sheridan Road in Poland. They say if no one is there, checks can be placed under the door.
