ONE Health Ohio receives $1.1 million in federal funding to boost health care services

Ohio North East Health Systems, a Federally Qualified Health Center that provides health care for uninsured and underinsured individuals, will be receiving $1,178,418 in federal funding.
The funding was announced Tuesday by Congressman Tim Ryan.
The announced funds are a Heath Center Program federal grant which, according to the press release, allows health centers to "improve the health of underserved and vulnerable populations." Included in ONE Health Ohio's vulnerable populations are agricultural workers, residents of public housing, veterans and those experiencing homelessness.
“For over 30 years, ONE Health Ohio has provided exceptional medical services in both Trumbull and Mahoning Counties. We need to make sure the citizens in our communities are receiving proper health care services, and I am glad that ONE Health Ohio continues to lead the charge,” Ryan said.
Dr. Ron Dwinnels, CEO of ONE Health Ohio, started the company in 1986 after applying for the federal CHC 330 grant which "allowed subsidizing support for patients who were uninsured," according to an interview with Dwinnels on ONE Health Ohio's YouTube channel.
There are seven ONE Health Ohio locations between Mahoning and Trumbull counties receiving this funding.
The Youngstown Community Health Center at 726 Wick Avenue offers family practice medicine, pediatric services, dental care, behavioral health care and a pharmacy.
Warren has two locations. Warren West Community Health Center, located at 716 Tod Avenue Southwest, offers family practice medicine, pediatric services, dental care and behavioral health care, and the Lloyd McCoy Community Health Center, located at 1977 Niles Road, offers the same care and a pharmacy.
ONE Health Ohio also operates facilities in Alliance and Newton Falls.
Two other locations, Kidz 1st Pediatrics at 1821 East Market St. in Warren and Premier Care Pediatrics at 2642 State Route 5 in Cortland, are the only ONE Health locations specifically focused on healthcare for children.
These facilities offer well-child visits, sick visits, immunizations, school and sports physicals, and treatment for ADHD, depression and anxiety.
We contacted ONE Health Ohio and are waiting to hear back about their plans for the funds.
