One student from Valley advances to finals in National Spelling Bee
One of our star-spellers sponsored by 21 WFMJ has advanced to the semifinals of the Scripps National Spelling Bee.
14 year-old Chistopher Dominick from Struthers Middle School will compete Wednesday night.
12 year-old Joey Constantine from Lakeview Middle School was eliminated in round five with the word 'escharotic.'
Three students from Valley schools were among the 234 others from around the world taking part in the Scripps National Spelling Bee that began Tuesday in Washington, D.C.
Salem News spelling bee champ, Shaylynn Dennis of Beaver Local Middle School was also eliminated.
The event is hosted by Levar Burton, and it's the first time that it's been fully in-person since the pandemic
