Ohio newlywed, Gwendolyn Stulgis of Trumbull County, is giving her $3,000 wedding dress to bride-to-be Margaret Hyde, of Portage County.

Stulgis announced Hyde as the winner of her dress giveaway June 4 on Facebook Live. She received 72 submissions for the dress.

Hyde's wedding will be in October 2022, and she is expected to pass the dress to another bride-to-be after her wedding day.

The champagne colored, laced ball gown caught Stulgis' eye at a local bridal shop, and she didn't want to pack the dress away never to be seen or worn again. She announced on social media that she's giving the dress away.

"I just want to make someone happy and make their dreams come true," said Stulgis. "That day was very magical and special for me, so I want them to feel that."

Stulgis asked women with serious inquires about the dress to send her a Facebook message detailing why they deserve the dress and she wants them to also pay it forward.

She wrote on her Facebook page, "I want it dry cleaned and passed on to another woman and keep going as long as the dress can stand."

In addition, her effort has gained traction. She started a Facebook group called, Shared Dream Dresses, where other women are donating dresses.

"I feel like I don't want to just give away my dress anymore, I want to help the other give their dresses too," said Stulgis.
