WARREN, Ohio -  The festival season is underway in downtown Warren this weekend as the 36th annual Trumbull County African American Achievers Association Festival kicks off.

Inflatable attractions, carnival games, food concessions, music an other events are scheduled to take place on Courthouse Square the Amphitheatre now through Sunday.

Some roads around the square will be closed before noon Friday when elected officials will officially open the festival.

A daily youth tournament is scheduled from 1 p.m. until 5 p.m.  At 7 p.m. Friday timeless classic Motown hits will be featured on the square followed at Mike Austin jazz at 8.p.m.

The Warren G. Harding Marching Band will highlight the parade which steps off at 11 a.m. Saturday.

From noon until 4 p.m. on Saturday a health fair will be held.  Between 1 and 5 p.m. there’ll be basketball, corn hole, and chess.

A talent show is scheduled for 2 p.m.

Entertainment by Suede Tyrell is set for 6 pm, followed by Infamous Cobb and Crew at 7 p.m.

Over at the amphitheater, Saturday’s shows start off with Saudia Yasmien at 6 p.m., Joe Little and the Rude Boys at 7 p.m., and Confunkshun at 8 p.m.

Gospel Sunday is scheduled to start at 2:30 p.m.

Several downtown restaurants will also be open during the festival.
