Transformed school bus will deliver free meals to Mercer County

For the second summer, a retrofitted school bus will roll through Mercer County and serve free hot lunches.
The Community Food Warehouse of Mercer County said last year 'Myron's Meal Mobile' delivered 5,000 hot lunches to those in need.
This year the bus will travel around town five days per week, throughout the summer months.
Here is where the mobile food bus will stop each day:
• Mondays - Musser Elementary School, Sharon
• Tuesdays - Stey-Nevant Library, Farrell
• Wednesdays - Orange Village Apartments, Hermitage
• Thursdays - Mercer United Methodist Church, Mercer
• Fridays - Hillside Presbyterian Church, Greenville
The Community Food Warehouse of Mercer County said the primary goal of the meal bus is to decrease the number of children and families going without meals during the summer.
"There are more than 14,000 people in Mercer County who are living with food insecurity," said Rebecca Page, executive director, CFWMC. "The Meal Bus provides additional access to healthy and nutritious food by bringing the meals into food insecure neighborhoods, eliminating the transportation barrier," added Page.
The school bus was donated by Anderson Coach & Travel and has undergone a complete interior transformation to include tables/benches, coolers, food warmers, a compressor, air conditioning and an outdoor awning.
