WARREN, Ohio -
Neighbors on Idylwild Street in Warren are raising concerns about a condemned property that has run wild.
They're asking the city to step in, saying that the property has become a health hazard.
On Idylwild Northwest in Warren neighbors who take care of their yards, say this condemned home on the city's demolition list is an eyesore and potential health hazard.
"It's a health nuisance, especially when the rest of the neighbors around are trying to keep their land and property kept up over here," said Lisa Miller.
Others on the street who didn't want to do an on-camera interview say the city should respond to complaints.
Many of the weeds were waist-high, close to 5 feet three inches tall or higher.
An older lady in her 80s told 21 News she's afraid to take her dog outside because of the rat problems at that home.
She claims when she called the city they told her the best they could tell her was to put out rat traps.
The city of Warren Health District Director John May tells us he doesn't know who the elderly woman talked with, or if she contacted the health district.
May says the city has contractors and volunteers who cut grass at abandoned or condemned houses throughout Warren.
He told 21 News he put this property on a list for grass cutting, and weather permitting the yard should be cut within the next two weeks.
While a 21 News crew was there a few people stopped to ask when grass was going to be cut on other lots or abandoned properties on their streets.
Warren neighbors with complaints about nuisance homes with high grass can call the Warren Health Department environmental health section during business hours at 330-841-2579.
Calls should be made during work days Monday through Friday from 7:30 A.M. through 4:00 P.M.
