Liberty police have identified the suspect and victim involved in Friday's road rage shooting and police standoff.

According to the release, police believe 55-year-old Kevin Mallard of Youngstown was the shooter.

Mallard allegedly shot 20-year-old Zachary Woods of Warren during the incident.

A shootout occurred between Mallard and officers after he allegedly fired at them near the intersection of Belmont Avenue and Liberty Street.

Mallard is currently being treated at the hospital after being shot by officers. He is in stable condition.

Woods was life-flighted to Cleveland where he is in serious condition.

Liberty Police plan to file charges against Mallard Monday.

Any charges related to the officer-involved shooting will be handled by BCI.
