Hubbard City Council to vote on water, electric rate increases

HUBBARD, Ohio - Hubbard residents should expect to see their water and electric rates increase come the new year.
Hubbard Mayor Ben Kyle says City Council is expected to vote in favor of a rate increase, following a third reading of the legislation set for July 5th. It comes after nearly a year of electric and water rate studies.
Aqua Pennsylvania provides Hubbard with its water supply. Over the past several years, Aqua PA has increase its rates, requiring the city to also increase rates to keep up.
The water rate will increase 8% over the next 5 years for customers both inside and outside the city. It's the first increase in Hubbard since 2010.
As for electric, there will be a rate increase and a rate restructure for the first time since 1989. This increase will be 2.5% each year through 2027.
The increases for both water and electric will go into effect January 1st of 2023.
