A trial has been ordered for a Mercer County man accused of holding police at bay during a half-day-long standoff in Clarks Mills.

A district magistrate on Thursday ordered that the case of 33-year-old Michael Scott be held for common pleas court.

Scott is charged with burglary, criminal trespass, making terroristic threats, and possession of a firearm while bring prohibited from doing so.

Police were called out on May 18 after Scott allegedly went into a man's apartment on Lake Wilhelm Road in Clarks Mills and threatened to kill him.

According to investigators, the victim said Scott wanted to "commit suicide by cop and would not be going down without a fight."

Officers surrounded apartment building, which had been evacuated.

After several unsuccessful attempts to get Scott to come out of the building, the Pennsylvania State Police Response Team convinced Scott to come outside and surrender.

Although Scott’s bail was reduced rom $50,000 to $5,000 during Thursday’s court hearing, as of Friday he remained in the Mercer County Jail.

At the time of his arrest, Pennsylvania authorities listed Scott as a parole violator.

Route 358 was closed between Route 19 and Interstate 79 during the standoff.
