Austintown funeral home broken into, jewelry and cash stolen

AUSTINTOWN, Ohio - An Austintown funeral and cremation service business was ransacked Monday morning.
According to the report, a worker at Cremation & Funerals by Gary Silvat Inc. on the 3800 block of Oakwood Avenue arrived Monday morning and found wires cut above the doorway and other electrical equipment ripped off the wall.
The worker told police he went into the building and found that multiple rooms had been broken into and items were stolen.
Reports said no employees had been at the building since Sunday morning when two people brought a body to the funeral home.
Police said a safe with $10,000 inside was taken as well as $6,200 and a computer from the office. Items were also taken from the Jewelry case.
Surveillance video from a nearby business showed someone walking near the parking lot of the funeral home before walking towards the building. A short time later, two people were seen leaving the area.
