Warren man charged with assaulting, abducting woman

WARREN, Ohio - A Warren man is jailed on criminal charges after the woman he lives with told police that he choked her until she passed out.
Rolfi Pena Jr., 29, was arrested Wednesday after being charged with felonious assault, abduction, and witness intimidation.
Officers began their investigation on Thursday at a Warren dollar store where a 28-year-old woman said she had sought refuge.
The woman told police that Pena choked her until she became unconscious late Wednesday at the Chestnut Avenue home they shared.
When she woke up the next morning, the woman claims Pena began to assault her again and tried to lock her in a room.
However, the woman told officers she managed to push past Pena and ran out of the home to a store on Elm Road NE where police were contacted.
According to the police report, the woman had signs of abuse on her neck, chest, and wrist. She was taken to St. Joseph Medical Center for treatment of her injuries.
Pena will be arraigned via video in Warren Municipal Court.
