Farrell man facing charges after chase involving Brookfield, Sharon officers

A Farrell man is facing charges after a police chase from Brookfield into Sharon.
The incident started as a traffic stop Wednesday following a headlight violation.
According to Brookfield Police, they stopped 38-year-old Robert Russell on State Route 82 near Obermiyer Road and found what they believed to be a bag of narcotics under his leg.
Officers told Russell to get out of the car and they opened his door to remove him.
While holding onto him, officers say he put the car in drive and fled from the traffic stop.
Brookfield police chased Russell onto South Stateline Road where he got out of the car and ran away on foot into Sharon.
Sharon and Brookfield officers caught up to him a short distance away and arrested him.
Russell was taken to the Mercer County Jail to face charges from Sharon Police and will be extradited back to Trumbull County.
Brookfield Police say they are filing charges of failure to comply, resisting arrest and tampering with evidence against him.
