The Trumbull County Grand Jury issued a special report on Wednesday indicting a Warren man accused of choking a woman he lives with until she passed out.

Rolfi Pena Jr., 29, faces charges of felonious assault, abduction, witness intimidation, domestic violence, and disrupting public services.

Officers began their investigation on June 30 at a Warren dollar store where a 28-year-old woman said she had sought refuge from Pena.

The woman told police that Pena choked her until she became unconscious the night before at the Chestnut Avenue home they shared.

When she woke up the next morning, the woman claims Pena began to assault her again and tried to lock her in a room.

However, the woman told officers she managed to push past Pena and ran out of the home to a store on Elm Road NE where police were contacted.

According to the police report, the woman had signs of abuse on her neck, chest, and wrist. She was taken to St. Joseph Medical Center for treatment of her injuries.

Pena, who has been jailed since July 6, awaits arraignment in common pleas court.
