Families from our region headed out to enjoy the last day of the Trumbull Fair in Cortland.
At the Trumbull Fairgrounds, families were having fun. They tell us this fair is still affordable in light of rising prices for gas, food, and almost everything else.
"Now we're out letting the kids ride some rides, get some good fair food, just enjoying the day with family," Avery Qualls said.
"The kids are enjoying the rides, obviously the root beer, and the food," Tyler Davis added.
Teens we caught up with were enjoying their summer day. They recommend the pizza and the lemonade and fun.
Friends Maddison and Korrin tell WFMJ news they love the rides and the people who work the fair are always so nice.
Some folks came prepared with umbrellas since rain is also a tradition at the Trumbull Fair.
A mom and daughter found refuge under the awning at a nearby game.
Parents enjoyed watching the joy in their kids after years of observing important height safety rules.
"This is the first year they an ride the rides. They're tall enough, so even wit the rain it's the last day we figured we would come and check it out and see what we could have some fun doing," said Bridget Rankin.
"As you can see my kids are getting off the rides right now and they actually had some fun hopefully, hoping to beat the rain," added her husband Brad Rankin.
Although people were spending on food and rides we only found a few kids taking part in games. Many vendors told us there were not nearly as many customers as in previous years.
"There's a lot of people showing up. It's been pretty packed every single day but not a lot of people are spending money. We got to try really hard and we're still not making that much," Gary Winthorpe said.
The fair an annual tradition of fun continues until 11 pm Sunday July 17, 2022.
