SALEM TOWNSHIP, Ohio - A Salem man that has been wanted by police for over a week has been taken into custody.

According to Salem Police, 33-year-old Christopher Hyler was taken into custody shortly before 10 p.m. Saturday night.

Authorities asked for the public's help in locating Hyler on July 16, three days after an alleged domestic violence incident in Salem. Police considered him to be dangerous.

Hyler is currently on probation after being sentenced in 2017 in Mahoning County for felonious assault, retaliation, assault, and vandalism.

In 2020, Hyler was arrested by the Jackson Township Police Department for allegedly beating his girlfriend and attempting to bite a police officer's ear. Hyler was charged with kidnapping, felonious assault, retaliation, escape, and resisting arrest.

It is unclear what led up to Hyler being found.
