Youngstown Parks and Recreation director resigns after five years

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio - Youngstown Mayor Jamael Tito Brown has announced on Tuesday the resignation of Youngstown Parks and Recreation Director, Dawn Turnage.
Turnage submitted her resignation, which is effective August 26, 2022. She served as the city's Parks and Recreation Director for five years.
Upon resignation, Turnage will be the Assistant Director of Recreation and Parks for the city of Columbus.
During Turnage's time as Parks and Recreation Director in Youngstown, the city has seen renewed enthusiasm, energy and focus on city park revitalization.
Additionally, the Stambaugh Golf Course has improved aesthetically and saw an increase in usage and the Northside pool has undergone a transformation both structurally and with human resources such as a lifeguard academy comprised of youth from the city.
"Dawn is a strong leader and advocate for children, families and residents to come together to celebrate the many assets of this great city. Her direction and vision will be missed going forward," Mayor Brown said.
