Laxative recall expanded, may cause infections

A recall has been expanded of laxatives sold at Walmart, Walgreens, Meijer, CVS, Rite-Aid, and other stores.
The recall by Vi-Jon, LLC now includes all lots of all flavors of Magnesium Citrate Saline Laxative Oral Solution.
The expansion includes all lots of Cherry Flavor and Grape Flavor of Magnesium Citrate Saline Laxative Oral Solution, 10 FL OZ within expiration dates.
On July 14, 2022, Vi-Jon, LLC recalled all lots of Magnesium Citrate Saline Laxative Oral Solution Lemon Flavor, 10 FL OZ after Vi-Jon says its third-party microbial testing identified the presence of Gluconacetobacter liquefaciens.
Immunocompromised patients who use the laxative may be at increased risk for invasive infections caused by Gluconacetobacter liquefaciens that could lead to serious, life-threatening adverse health consequences.
So far, Vi-Jon says it is investigating 3 reports of serious adverse reactions potentially related to the recall.

The solution is used for the relief of occasional constipation and generally produces bowel movements in ½ to 6 hours. The product is packaged in a 10 oz clear round plastic bottle and was distributed Nationwide to wholesale and retail outlets.
Vi-Jon says it is continuing its investigation into the cause of the problem and is notifying its customers by phone and email and is arranging for the return or destruction of all recalled products.
Consumers that have this recalled product should stop using and return any remaining product to the place of purchase.
