Mahoning Valley - COVID-19 cases in the Mahoning Valley are climbing once again this week as all three counties are reporting increased cases per 100k.

This week, Mahoning County is reporting 946 cases, (413.7 per 100k), Trumbull is reporting 805 cases, (406.6 per 100k) and Columbiana County is reporting 356 cases (349.4 per 100k).

Mahoning and Trumbull Counties remain at the high transmission level for the virus and Columbiana County remains at the medium transmission level.

Hospitalization numbers have been rising for COVID-19 patients in the Ohio Hospital Preparedness Region 5, which includes Mahoning, Trumbull, Columbiana, Portage, Stark, Carroll, Summit, Tuscarawas, Medina, Wayne, Holmes, Ashland, and Richland counties.

As of Tuesday, there were 247 covid positive cases in hospitals in the region, compared to 176 patients 12 days before

Late this week sixteen of those patients were on ventilators and 29 were in intensive care units.

 

 Meanwhile, in the Shenango Valley, Mercer County still remains at the high transmission level, and Lawrence County is seeing an uptick in cases bumping it up to the medium transmission level this week.
