BROOKFIELD TOWNSHIP, Ohio - The Healthy Hearts and Paws Project hosted a four-hour live telethon event via the project's Facebook page raising nearly $3.5k during that time.

According to the non-profit's Facebook page, a total of $3,480 was raised in order to help with increasing veterinary expenses.

Organization founder, Jason Cooke told 21 News the organization had to take in eight animals in just one day while already being crushed with veterinary bills, and with inflation those bills are only getting worse.

"As of July 23, the cost of veterinary care has averaged nearly $19,000 each month with the majority of the expenses being incurred at Countryside Veterinary Services in Kinsman," Cooke said.

The organization thanked all who donated via its Facebook page.
