Brothers Against Violence invited folks to join together in a stand AGAINST violence at the Third Christian Church in Warren.

Brothers Against Violence invited folks to join together in a stand AGAINST violence at the Third Christian Church in Warren.
"We believe if we show the children, try to show the young children that e love them and we're here for them and we just need them to straighten up and fly right," Elder Barbara Murray said.
"Black or white we can't be divided if we come together, we stay united and maybe we can put a dent in it. We are all about Jesus, hence Bikers for Jesus," Brick a member of the group said.
The co-founders who formed the group four years ago due to a surge in violence in the city. Since they formed the group they have served people breakfast, held cookouts and other fun events to help keep kids engaged in positive activities.
"We give the kids something to do you know, instead of being out in the streets and doing something they shouldn't be doing," Co-founder Joseph Threats said.
"We have people out there who really care about our kids in the city, and we really want them to stop this nonsense killing each other. Most of the guys killing each other are friends," Co-founder Gary McElroy said.
He added they grew up playing football together.
At this second annual bike ride adults rode motorcycles, while teens and kids rode bikes or scooters. Some adults rode in vehicles.
The bike ride took them from First Street to Main through downtown Warren, and past a popular restaurant near where the last homicide happened last week.
The Ministerial Alliance was meeting with the Mayor, officials from a hospital and other community and church leaders discussing ways to help stop the cycle of violence committed by a group of a number of repeat offenders in an otherwise law abiding city.
"I've always said the first classroom is the home. I believe they play the most critical role out of everyone including lawmakers and politicians. It starts in the home and it ends in the home," said Mayor Doug Franklin.
Mayor Franklin emphasized the crimes will never be solved unless people who know something say something. He tells WFMJ News people can call city hall for an anonymous number call and provide information, or they can call and talk with he or Safety Service Director Eddie Colbert. He says you provide information and remain anonymous.
It's believed drugs plays a major role in the shootings and murders in Warren.
