COLUMBIANA COUNTY, Ohio - In spite of higher costs to put groceries on your table and to fill your tank, there were thousands of people attending the Shaker Woods Festival in Columbiana County.

WFMJ News finds out if the economy is having any impact on how much people are spending this year.

Long lines and thousands of people are attending the Shaker Woods Festival.

For many mothers and daughters, it's a tradition they won't miss. In spite of inflation, they are finding deals and some say they are buying more.

"There are lots of bargains. The prices are fair, yes I'm here with my mom and sister. I'm having a great time," said Heather Barker.

For grandmothers, moms and daughters from Liberty, and thousands of others, the Shaker Woods Festival arrives each year just in time for Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Christmas.

"I like looking at the Halloween stuff, the rings, and jewelry and I like the Christmas stuff too," said MacKenzie Herdzik.

Young men also found unique gifts for a grandpa who couldn't make it.

"We found a hand-drawn picture, he loves old western movies, so I picked him up a hand-drawn picture of Clint Eastwood. I thought it was really cool," said Dominic Franklin.

At the Festival there is plenty of food to enjoy.
Plus there is music.

Vendors say even with inflation it has not put a damper on spending here. Audwynn Neuman sells art specific to regions. His business has been up by around 30 percent this year.

"Obviously inflation is an issue, but I think people come to these shows to now go to the big box stores, so they can get something really unique. So they're willing to pay to get something homemade, handcrafted," emphasized Neuman.

Shoppers we talked with agree.

"Somethings are a little bit pricey, but they are unique, which is why we don't mind spending that much on them because they are unique gifts," Cindy Bishop said.

The Shaker Woods Festival in Columbiana County runs August  13-14, 20-21, 27-28 2022.
