Retired Springfield Police K-9 Dany passes away

SPRINGFIELD TWP., Mahoning Co., Ohio - A four-legged Springfield Township Police Officer who helped catch crooks and sniff out drugs in Mahoning County for seven years has passed away.
Township officials have announced that retired K-9 Dany has died.
"Dany will be missed by all. Our thoughts and prayers are with his handler and partner Officer Corey and family,” according to a message posted on the township’s Facebook page.
Dany joined the department in April 2012 and worked with his partner Officer Glenn Corey until his retirement party in November 2019.
The crime-fighting dog was purchased and trained using the money raised by donations from businesses and members of the community.
In addition to taking a bite out of crime, police say Dany and officer Corey presented many demonstrations to community groups, promoting a positive relationship between the department and the public.
