JOHNSON TWP., Trumbull Co., Ohio - One man was flown by medical helicopter to Mercy Hospital in Youngstown after his pickup truck crashed along Route 11 north of Cortland.

Rescue squads from three communities responded to a report of a pickup truck crash on Route 11 in Trumbull County Monday morning.

A 9-1-1 caller reported seeing the truck hit traveling southbound, strike a bridge abutment and go down an embankment near the Route 5 interchange in Johnston Township just after 9:30 a.m.

Emergency crews from Johnston, Cortland, and Kinsman were dispatched.

Route 11 was closed in the area so a medical helicopter from University Hospitals could land and transport the victim, described as an elderly man.

21 News is working with the Ohio State Highway Patrol to learn more about the crash and the victim.
