Prosecutor: Girard suspect in child rape case could face life without parole

A 31-year-old Girard man could face life in prison without parole if he’s convicted of raping a 9-year-old girl in Warren.

WARREN, Ohio - A 31-year-old Girard man could face life in prison without parole if he’s convicted of raping a 9-year-old girl in Warren.

Shane Newton of Louise Lane was secretly indicted by the Trumbull County Grand Jury on two counts of rape and two counts of gross sexual imposition involving someone under the age of thirteen.

All four charges are felonies.

Newton was booked into the county jail on Wednesday and appeared before a judge for arraignment on Thursday.

Another court hearing in the case is scheduled for next week.
