Youngstown man accused of threatening Liberty motel guest with laser-sighted BB gun

A Youngstown man was arrested after allegedly threatening a Liberty motel guest with a laser-sighted handgun that turned out to be a BB gun.
A 22-year-old Alabama man told police he was lounging on the patio of the Comfort Suites in Liberty Thursday evening when a man sat next to him and pulled a handgun from his hood pocket and talked about robbing him.
The guest said the suspect activated the gun’s red laser sight, pointing it at the motel.
When the suspect turned away for a second, the guest said he ran to his room and called the front desk, who called the police.
After reviewing the security video, police arrested 19-year-old Leighton Weaver while exiting a restroom.
According to the police report, Leighton surrendered the gun, which turned out to be a BB gun replica of a .45 caliber handgun with a laser sight.
After being taken to the county jail, Weaver pleaded not guilty to inducing panic and trespassing during a court hearing on Friday.
A judge in Girard Municipal Court set the bond at $7,500 and scheduled another hearing for next week.
