On Wednesday, a 24-year-old Youngstown woman was arraigned on cruelty to animals charges, a fifth-degree felony, and abandoned animals, a second-degree misdemeanor, in Mahoning County Common Pleas Court.

A $5,000 bond was set for Rayne Lynn Dunmire, appearing via video arraignment, and a court date of November 7 was set in Judge Scott Krichbaum's courtroom.

In late July, Dunmire was charged after a dead dog was found inside a home in the 200 block of E. Boston Avenue on Youngstown's south side.

In July, Animal Charity agents said they found the dog dead inside the home and a reptile still alive. Animal Charity said the animals were allegedly left unattended while their owner was out of state for several weeks.

The maximum penalty for animal cruelty in Ohio is one year in prison and a $2,500 fine.
