Trial begins for Coolspring Twp. man accused of strangling wife
The trial for a man accused of strangling his newlywed wife at his mother’s Mercer County trailer last year began Monday morning.
Mercer county District Attorney Peter Acker said jury selection began before noon in the trial for 45-year-old Eric George on charges of first-degree murder, strangulation, and aggravated assault.
Police say George admitted to a 911 dispatcher that he strangled 41-year-old Serena Anne Schoeder who was found dead in the Pine Grove Mobile Home Park in Coolspring Township on Perry Highway on the night of June 14, 2021.
The criminal complaint states that George married Schoeder earlier that year and was living at his mother’s trailer.
A mental health evaluation was recently completed for George, who is a registered sex offender.
