Bomb Squad called after grenade found near Route 11 in Vienna

VIENNA TWP., Ohio - Authorities have shut down the ramp from Route 11 southbound to King Graves Road for a couple of hours early Friday after the discovery of a hand grenade.
A group of inmates from the Trumbull Correctional Institution cleaning up the highway reported finding what they believe to be a hand grenade.
State Troopers called the Youngstown Police Department’s Bomb Squad and personnel from the Youngstown Air Reserve Station to the scene.
A second grenade was also found near the off ramp to state Route 11.
OSP said they were not able to determine the age of the devices, be said they appeared to have been there for a while. It is not known at this time is the devices were live grenades. OSP and the Air Reserve are investigating the incident.
The ramp was open again around 12:30 p.m. Friday.

The ramp will open again when authorities are sure the area is safe.
