Prosecutor seeks 23-year jail term for Wellsville man convicted of child sex offenses
Prosecutors say they will ask a judge to impose a 23-year jail sentence on a Wellsville man who plead guilty to charges filed in connection with sex crimes committed against four children, one as young as six years old.
Columbiana County Prosecutor Vito J. Abruzzino announced that 36-year-old Timothy Coles appeared before a judge on Tuesday and pled guilty to multiple counts including attempted rape, rape, attempted sexual battery, and gross sexual imposition.
Along with the prison sentence recommendation, Coles will also be designated a Tier III Sexual Offender, meaning he must register as a sexual offender for the rest of his life.
Coles had been scheduled to go on trial for crimes that occurred over a period beginning in 2012 through 2019.
Three of the victims were ten years old when the incidents began. The fourth alleged victim was only six.
Investigators say Coles was involved in the community, including as a coach.
